箴言 第 14 章

¹智慧婦人建立家室；愚妄婦人親手拆毀。Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.

²行動正直的，敬畏耶和華；行事乖僻的，卻藐視他。He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD: but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.

³愚妄人口中驕傲，如杖責打己身；智慧人的嘴必保守自己。In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.

⁴家裡無牛，槽頭乾淨；土產加多乃憑牛力。Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.

⁵誠實見證人不說謊話；假見證人吐出謊言。A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.

⁶褻慢人尋智慧，卻尋不著；聰明人易得知識。A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth.

⁷到愚昧人面前，不見他嘴中有知識。Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.

⁸通達人的智慧在乎明白己道；愚昧人的愚妄乃是詭詐（或譯：自歎）。The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.

⁹愚妄人犯罪，以為戲耍（或譯：贖愆祭愚弄愚妄人）；正直人互相喜悅。Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.

¹⁰心中的苦楚，自己知道；心裡的喜樂，外人無干。The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.

¹¹奸惡人的房屋必傾倒；正直人的帳棚必興盛。The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.

¹²有一條路，人以為正，至終成為死亡之路。There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

¹³人在喜笑中，心也憂愁；快樂至極就生愁苦。Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness.

¹⁴心中背道的，必滿得自己的結果；善人必從自己的行為得以知足。The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.

¹⁵愚蒙人是話都信；通達人步步謹慎。The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.

¹⁶智慧人懼怕，就遠離惡事；愚妄人卻狂傲自恃。A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.

¹⁷輕易發怒的，行事愚妄；設立詭計的，被人恨惡。He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.

¹⁸愚蒙人得愚昧為產業；通達人得知識為冠冕。The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

¹⁹壞人俯伏在善人面前；惡人俯伏在義人門口。The evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.

²⁰貧窮人連鄰舍也恨他；富足人朋友最多。The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich hath many friends.

²¹藐視鄰舍的，這人有罪；憐憫貧窮的，這人有福。He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.

²²謀惡的，豈非走入迷途麼？謀善的，必得慈愛和誠實。Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.

²³諸般勤勞都有益處；嘴上多言乃致窮乏。In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.

²⁴智慧人的財為自己的冠冕；愚妄人的愚昧終是愚昧。The crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness of fools is folly.

²⁵作真見證的，救人性命；吐出謊言的，施行詭詐。A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.

²⁶敬畏耶和華的，大有倚靠；他的兒女也有避難所。In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.

²⁷敬畏耶和華就是生命的泉源，可以使人離開死亡的網羅。The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

²⁸帝王榮耀在乎民多；君王衰敗在乎民少。In the multitude of people is the king’s honour: but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.

²⁹不輕易發怒的，大有聰明；性情暴躁的，大顯愚妄。He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

³⁰心中安靜是肉體的生命；嫉妒是骨中的朽爛。A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.

³¹欺壓貧寒的，是辱沒造他的主；憐憫窮乏的，乃是尊敬主。He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.

³²惡人在所行的惡上必被推倒；義人臨死，有所投靠。The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.

³³智慧存在聰明人心中；愚昧人心裡所存的，顯而易見。Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.

³⁴公義使邦國高舉；罪惡是人民的羞辱。Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.

³⁵智慧的臣子蒙王恩惠；貽羞的僕人遭其震怒。The king’s favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.
