約伯記 第 35 章

¹以利戶又說：Elihu spake moreover, and said,

²你以為有理，或以為你的公義勝於神的公義，Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God’s?

³才說這與我有甚麼益處？我不犯罪比犯罪有甚麼好處呢？For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin?

⁴我要回答你和在你這裡的朋友。I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.

⁵你要向天觀看，瞻望那高於你的穹蒼。Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou.

⁶你若犯罪，能使神受何害呢？你的過犯加增，能使神受何損呢？If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?

⁷你若是公義，還能加增他甚麼呢？他從你手裡還接受甚麼呢？If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?

⁸你的過惡或能害你這類的人；你的公義或能叫世人得益處。Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man.

⁹人因多受欺壓就哀求，因受能者的轄制（原文是膀臂）便求救，By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make the oppressed to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty.

¹⁰卻無人說：造我的神在哪裡？他使人夜間歌唱，But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;

¹¹教訓我們勝於地上的走獸，使我們有聰明勝於空中的飛鳥。Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?

¹²他們在那裡，因惡人的驕傲呼求，卻無人答應。There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.

¹³虛妄的呼求，神必不垂聽；全能者也必不眷顧。Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.

¹⁴何況你說，你不得見他；你的案件在他面前，你等候他罷。Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, yet judgment is before him; therefore trust thou in him.

¹⁵但如今因他未曾發怒降罰，也不甚理會狂傲，But now, because it is not so, he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth it not in great extremity:

¹⁶所以約伯開口說虛妄的話，多發無知識的言語。Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge.
